Trump’s Confusion

It’s hard to gauge just how confused Trump is these days. The supposed “deep state” leakers, driven by their disdain for him alongside their Democratic media allies, seem willing to go to great lengths to undermine his successes, or maybe they’re just worried about igniting a full-blown conflict with Iran.

Recently, CNN reported on a leaked assessment from the Defense Intelligence Agency, suggesting Iran’s B-2 Bunker Buster selection over the weekend turned out to be a disaster. This, they claim, was a significant military success that seemingly contradicted Trump’s assertion that he concealed positive developments about separating the ceasefire between Iran and Israel.

Trump reacted during a press conference in The Hague, where he labeled CNN “fake news,” hinting that their attempt to provoke him had succeeded. He might have a point.

Within intelligence circles, the DIA isn’t held in particularly high regard—it’s somewhat humorously dubbed “Please try again.” The CNN piece, interestingly, came from Natasha Bertrand, who previously misrepresented a narrative involving Hunter Biden’s laptop as a Russian disinformation operation.

Misleading Narratives

The FBI is currently investigating the leaks related to the DIA report, with U.S. Special Envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, accusing CNN’s anonymous source of “treason.” Despite this, CNN’s spin on the Intelligence Reports didn’t hold up well under scrutiny.

The DIA clarified that the assessments were “preliminary and low confidence” right after the strike, implying that the impact could range from “limited to very serious.” CNN not only overlooked the uncertain nature of these findings but also neglected to highlight contradictions within the reports that supported Trump’s side of the argument.

Of course, the New York Times quickly amplified CNN’s misleading coverage, which was, perhaps, an effort to prevent their audience from considering that Trump might be making strides toward peace in the Middle East.

Ironically, the same critics who claim Trump has failed to curtail Iran’s nuclear ambitions recently accused him of exaggerating the threat, arguing that Iran hasn’t yet achieved nuclear capabilities. They seem to lack a cohesive stance, constantly flip-flopping based on their agenda.

Competing assessments from various agencies, including the CIA and the Israeli Atomic Energy Commission, indicated that, in contrast to CNN’s narratives, the U.S. strike against Iran’s underground nuclear facilities was indeed “destructive.” Iran’s foreign ministry even acknowledged that its nuclear site suffered significant damage.

“Critical Infrastructure”

The Iranian Atomic Energy Commission noted that a large bunker buster, weighing 13.6 tonnes, was deployed into the underground Fordow plant. Another organization, the Institute of Nonproliferation Science and International Security, echoed similar conclusions, emphasizing that despite its losses, Iran retains the capability to produce enriched uranium to some extent but will face considerable challenges in the reconstruction process.

They report that the destruction of critical facilities will require significant time, investment, and effort for Iran to advance its nuclear capabilities again.

What’s perhaps the most fascinating aspect of this situation is how the media has seemingly colluded with various elements that aim to undermine Trump’s presidency. Bertrand, in particular, often takes the role of a conduit for information that aligns with anti-Trump narratives.

Questionable Integrity

Having risen rapidly through the ranks in media thanks to strategic internships and connections, Bertrand has been involved in numerous controversial stories surrounding Trump, starting from the infamous Steele dossier. She was rewarded with positions in various notable agencies, even though many of her reports were later discredited.

Despite this, her career didn’t suffer any setbacks; if anything, she gained accolades for her continued assertions, even when contradicted by investigations like those surrounding the Russia allegations.

Independent journalist Glenn Greenwald remarked on her output, describing it as dripping with speculation masquerading as journalism. Notably, even those critical of Trump, like Washington Post media critic Eric Wemple, have called her work into question.

As trust in sources like CNN diminishes, it seems that their time for spinning narratives could be running out. The ongoing leaks and the public’s growing skepticism might soon lead to more accountability.
