New York City’s Mayor Critiques Socialist Candidate with 50 Cent’s Support
New York City Mayor Eric Adams has voiced his agreement with rapper 50 Cent regarding the economic ideas put forth by Zohran Mamdani, a Democratic socialist candidate. Adams referred to these proposals as being situated in “Fantasyland.”
In a post on X, he humorously suggested to 50 Cent, “Make it a one-way ticket to Fantasyland, he’ll fit right away.” He also included a screenshot of a now-deleted message from the rapper that questioned Mamdani’s policy concepts.
Adams further remarked about the disconnect of Mamdani’s proposals, stating, “Rent is optional, the atmosphere is currency, and your parents are the only place they still cover your deduction.”
Adams’ Re-election Bid Amid Controversy
During a recent event kicking off his re-election campaign, Adams, who was elected as a Democrat in 2021, confronted his dwindling approval ratings and the recent federal corruption allegations that were ultimately dismissed. He expressed disdain for the idea of socialism, saying, “This is not socialism, it’s a city,” emphasizing the importance of work and dignity over handouts.
Mamdani, a 33-year-old state legislator from Queens who was born in Uganda, recently advocated for raising corporate taxes in a podcast, discussing how these funds could benefit New Yorkers. He also proposed a tax increase on the wealthiest in the state, specifically targeting individuals earning over $1 million annually.
In response to Mamdani’s statements, 50 Cent, who supported Donald Trump in 2020, criticized the candidate’s proposals, questioning their viability and even suggesting that he would offer him a significant sum to leave New York, humorously citing, “I’m giving him $258,750 and a first-class one-way ticket away from New York.”
Both 50 Cent and Mamdani were approached for comments by Fox News Digital but did not respond immediately.
