Violence in the West Bank Claims Life of Palestinian-American
Sayfollah Musallet, a 20-year-old Palestinian-American, lost his life during a violent encounter with Israeli settlers in the West Bank last Friday, according to family members and Palestinian officials.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) described the situation as a confrontation where settlers allegedly began throwing rocks, resulting in injuries to a couple of individuals. Reports indicated that soldiers and police were deployed to manage the unrest.
In a statement to the media, Musallet’s family expressed their sorrow, claiming he was severely beaten by Israeli settlers while trying to protect his family’s land. They mentioned that paramedics were blocked for over three hours as they attempted to reach him, preventing any crucial medical aid.
Musallet reportedly suffered injuries and was left without care for about two hours, as the settlers obstructed ambulance access. He tragically died while en route to the hospital, with the Palestinian Ministry of Health characterizing the incident as a serious assault.
Another victim of the violence was Mohammed Al Sharabi, 23, whose body was found showing signs of physical trauma and a gunshot wound. This incident marks the fourth Palestinian-American fatality in the West Bank since the recent hostilities began.
Musallet, who grew up in Florida, had returned to the West Bank recently to visit family, aiming to find his mother a spouse. His family described him as a kind and hard-working individual, deeply respected by those who knew him.
A spokesperson from the US embassy confirmed Musallet’s passing, while his family urged the State Department to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death. The State Department had not yet responded to requests for comment.
