Frat Student Arrested Amid Assault Allegations
A student from the University of Alabama has sparked significant online controversy after being arrested for allegedly assaulting his former girlfriend.
Interestingly, the victim’s father, who is a police officer in Long Island, was also arrested the following day for allegedly threatening the accused.
Ryan Delafranco supposedly assaulted his 19-year-old ex inside an off-campus apartment in Tuscaloosa, near the Bryant-Denny Stadium, according to local police reports.
According to a source known only as Eva, “He slammed her head against the toilet and strangled her on top of it.” There are even Snapchat conversations that have gone viral discussing the incident.
It’s said that the victim punched him, took his phone, and tried to escape, but he pursued her, breaking into her apartment.
This incident allegedly occurred on a Sunday, and when the victim contacted the police, no arrests were made at the scene for reasons not disclosed by authorities.
Feeling frightened, the ex-girlfriend reached out to her father, who is a detective with the Nassau County Police Department. He quickly flew to Alabama the next day to confront Delafranco.
Delafranco reportedly told police that the father appeared on his apartment balcony and made threats against him.
A video emerged showing a chaotic crowd outside the house as police arrived, but again, no arrests were made at that time.
After the confrontation on Monday, Delafranco eventually returned home but later turned himself into the Tuscaloosa police on Tuesday. He was charged with third-degree domestic violence and assault, later released on a $500 bond.
The victim’s father turned himself into the Tuscaloosa police station the following day, facing charges of harassment, also released on $500 bail.
While the exact circumstances that led to the altercation remain unclear, it has been reported that Delafranco allegedly sold an intimate video to adult sites. When the victim confronted him about it, things escalated.
Interestingly, a member of the Theta Chi fraternity, where Delafranco was affiliated, stated that he’s no longer part of the fraternity but didn’t specify when his membership ended.
Content regarding Delafranco has been circulating online under the hashtag #thetachifiles. The fraternity issued a statement saying he is no longer associated with them and encouraged anyone with pertinent information to assist law enforcement.
The West Alabama Intercept Task Force, which focuses on human trafficking, is collaborating with local police in this investigation.
As of now, neither Delafranco nor the victim’s father has commented on the situation, and the victim herself has chosen not to speak publicly.
