A US-manufactured and supplied Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missile defense battery was reportedly used on Friday morning against a ballistic missile launched by Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi rebels towards Israel.
The THAAD battery arrived in Israel in October. At the time, the move was hailed as a step forward in U.S.-Israel military cooperation amid difficult relations between U.S. President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government.
