Article Examines Effectiveness of Iran Strikes; Former Intelligence Officials Claim Hunter Biden Laptop Is Russian Disinformation

Report on US Strike Against Iran’s Nuclear Site Raises Questions

A CNN reporter, Natasha Bertrand, known for a report in 2020 concerning the Hunter Biden laptops and their classification as Russian disinformation, has recently reported on the aftermath of a US military strike against an Iranian nuclear facility. Her article, published alongside Katie Bolilith and Zachary Cohen, references the “Early US Intelligence Report Assessment,” indicating that crucial elements of Iran’s nuclear program remain intact despite the strike. The report claims that Operation Midnight Hammer only delayed Iran’s nuclear capabilities by a few months.

In a contrasting statement, former President Trump cited a report from Israel’s Atomic Energy Commission which asserted that the US attack had significantly damaged the site’s infrastructure and that Iran’s ability to advance its nuclear weapons program was hindered. This discrepancy highlights the ongoing debate over the efficacy of the military action.

National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard later confirmed that the nuclear site had indeed been destroyed, further complicating the narrative. White House Press Secretary Caroline Lewitt emphasized that the FBI is investigating the source of the leaks related to CNN, underscoring concerns about the report’s implications, particularly in light of Bertrand’s past coverage of the Hunter Biden laptop controversy.

Back in October 2020, Bertrand’s reporting was backed by over 50 former intelligence officers who asserted that the narrative regarding Hunter Biden’s laptop was merely disinformation. This report contributed to her prominent position on a list by Breitbart News, criticizing her as a leading denier of the laptop’s legitimacy.

This piece was crucial in fostering skepticism around the New York Post’s reporting on the laptops, suggesting they were merely vehicles for disinformation without substantial evidence backing those claims. The letter of former intelligence officials provided a convenient rationale for dismissing the laptop conversation, particularly among those in the media and political spheres.

As skepticism around such narratives mounts, Levitt remarked that the idea of Hunter Biden’s laptops being Russian disinformation is among the most significant political hoaxes in recent American history, reiterating that it does not alter the facts regarding Iran’s nuclear capabilities.

Trump took to social media to call for Bertrand’s dismissal from CNN, expressing outrage over her reporting. He said she should be immediately rebuked and highlighted concerns about her credibility, criticizing her portrayal of both the Hunter Biden narrative and the recent nuclear site reports.

In response to the backlash, a CNN spokesperson defended Bertrand’s integrity, asserting that it is essential for reporters to depict intelligence assessments accurately, noting that this serves the public interest.
