Police Investigate Armed Robbery of Boys’ Lemonade Stand

Boston police are looking into an armed robbery involving a children’s lemonade stand run by two brothers.

Officers arrived at the scene in South Boston around 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday, where they met the children and their father. According to the police report, the kids mentioned that two suspects had circled their stand several times before asking whether they accepted Apple Pay.

Before they could answer, one of the suspects snatched a box containing $50 in cash. Witnesses indicated that one of the suspects had a black firearm tucked into his waistband when they fled the area.

Boston City Councilman Ed Flynn, representing parts of South Boston, expressed his outrage on social media. He stated, “I can’t think of anything more alarming than an innocent kid’s lemonade stand being robbed by armed robbers. The thoughts of our entire community are with the young children and their families who had to endure this horrific and senseless ordeal.”

The boys provided police with descriptions of the suspects. One was identified as a dark-skinned male, approximately 14 years old, dressed in black Nike shesties—apparently a term for full face coverings—along with a black shirt and unknown-colored shorts. This suspect was carrying a concealed black firearm.

The second suspect, described as a light-skinned male and possibly 11 years old, was also reportedly wearing Nike shesty. Unfortunately, police noted that street cameras in the area weren’t positioned to capture the incident.

Flynn mentioned in another message that this event could be traumatic for the children’s families. He reflected on the community’s solidarity, stating, “As neighbors, we all must understand that an injustice done to one of us is an injustice done to all of us.” He added that while South Boston has changed over the years, the community spirit remains strong.

Plans are in place for neighbors to assist the children in reopening their lemonade stand on Friday.
