Biden frets over ‘billionaires’ owning newspapers, making sweeping changes

President Biden, nearing the end of his term, lamented in an interview posted Thursday that the media landscape has changed dramatically, and particularly blamed “billionaires” who have bought up major newspapers.

when asked MeidasTouch host Ben Meiselas If there's no positive news about the Biden economy in the media and there's too much focus on “horse race” politics, the president said technology is changing “all” processes.

“Technology is changing everything,” Biden said. “I think the reason you guys are so successful is because you guys are telling the truth, saying this is what I think is the truth, laying it out, telling it. But it's hard. “There are very few editors out there who say they can't write that anymore,” Biden said.

Biden furious at Democrats for rebuking Hunter pardon: Report

“There are billionaires who buy regular, well-known newspapers and say they're not going to do that anymore, because I don't want to do that,” he said.

“It's going to take some time for this to settle down,” Biden said.

Biden appeared to be referring to the recent decision by prominent billionaire newspaper owners to avoid endorsing the 2024 race between President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris. is.

During the friendly press conference, the president was not asked about Harris' loss to Trump, her decision to withdraw from the race, or her controversial pardon of her son Hunter Biden.

Washington Post owner Jeff Bezos has decided to end the paper's tradition of endorsing presidential candidates ahead of elections. As expected by the Liberal paper, the editorial board had already written a letter of support for Harris before Bezos rescinded it.
