Claude Lemieux’s Children Share Tributes Following His Death

Claude Lemieux, a four-time Stanley Cup champion, was found dead on Thursday morning, and the news has deeply affected his family. The circumstances of his passing are believed to be a suicide, occurring in the showroom of the furniture store he and his wife managed in Lake Park, Florida.

Brendan, Lemieux’s son, and Claudia, his daughter, both professional hockey players currently in Switzerland, expressed their grief and love for their father through social media. Brendan shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, saying, “Dad, I love you! My son’s favorite person is watching over him from above for a while. Let’s meet again.” He also posted a touching photo of Lemieux with his grandson.

Claudia reflected on her father’s time with the New Jersey Devils from 1990 to 1995 and again from 1999 to 2000. She conveyed her feelings of devastation in an Instagram Story, stating, “There are no words to express the level of devastation we are feeling. Daddy, I love you forever. I’ll always be your only girl.”

Lemieux leaves behind four children: Brendan, Claudia, and two sons, Michael and Christopher, from his previous marriage.

Brendan, who has inherited his father’s hockey talents, has described Lemieux as his “biggest role model.” In a past interview, he expressed pride in his father’s career, saying, “I’m proud of his career. I definitely want to follow in his footsteps.” He has played parts of seven NHL seasons, including 109 games with the New York Rangers.

Reports indicate that the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office responded to the showroom after a suicide attempt was reported, with one of Lemieux’s adult sons discovering him.
