Clark Misses Game Due to Injury but Returns Strong
Caitlin Clark, the standout player for the Indiana Fever, unfortunately missed a game against the Portland Fire due to a hip injury, which was announced just hours before the match. This was her first absence of the season. Despite her absence, the Fever managed to secure a victory, winning 90-73. However, there were looming concerns about whether Clark would be able to return in time for their next game against the Golden State Valkyries.
Yet, those worries dissipated quickly. Just two days later, Clark was back on the court and made a significant impact, scoring 22 points in a close 90-82 win over Indiana University, even after missing practice the previous day. Along with those points, she also contributed nine assists, coming pretty close to achieving a double-double.
During the game, she showcased her skills by sinking a 3-pointer from quite a distance in the third quarter. Supporting her efforts, Fever center Aliyah Boston put up a solid performance of her own, finishing the night with 20 points and 16 rebounds, which earned her a double-double as well.
The Fever and Valkyries are set to meet again, this time in San Francisco, which should make for an interesting matchup.
It’s worth noting that Clark’s previous season was marred by injuries, limiting her to only 13 games. She faced a series of challenges, including a groin strain and a subsequent ankle bruise. Nevertheless, her recent performance seems promising.
In a separate announcement, Clark introduced the cover art for her new children’s picture book, “EXTRAordinary! A Little EXTRA to Reach BIG Dreams,” which is expected to be published in November. She describes the book as a reflection of her life, which she feels mirrors the experiences of many people.
