California man attacked, killed by group of pit bulls in backyard kennel

A California man was reportedly brutally mauled to death by a pit bull in his backyard.

According to the Compton Fire Department and the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, authorities responded to a 911 call around 8 a.m. Friday morning.

According to authorities, a frightened woman called to say her 35-year-old boyfriend had been attacked and seriously injured by a pit bull.

When authorities arrived, they found the man dead in a dog kennel in the backyard of the couple’s home in Compton, California.

After the attack, authorities began an investigation into the circumstances that led to the attack by the ferocious dog.

Sheriff’s Office officials said the assault appears to have occurred Thursday around 7:30 or 8:30 p.m.

Authorities cited surveillance video showing part of the attack.

Police say the man is believed to have been feeding the dog at the time of the gruesome attack.

Several dogs started fighting, which eventually led to an attack on the man, police said.

The incident occurred at the intersection of North Thorson Street and East Sanders Street in Compton, California. (FOX11)

According to investigators, the couple had 13 pit bulls in their home, including five adults and eight puppies.

Los Angeles County Animal Control will also respond to the residence to remove the pit bull from the backyard area and will determine if any dogs require euthanasia.

The investigation is still ongoing, authorities said.

The man’s identity has not been released at this time.
