Couple in Arizona discovers a bloody black glove and blood on a rock in the desert near Nancy Guthrie's residence

In Arizona, a couple discovered a blood-stained glove and a rock with dried blood in the desert near Nancy Guthrie’s residence, just days after she went missing.

The anonymous couple stumbled upon a black glove on February 11, about ten feet off Campbell Avenue in Tucson’s Catalina Foothills. They later shared their finding with KVOA.

“It looked like a torn black glove, and there was blood on it—mostly on the wrist area and the index finger,” one of them recounted.

Worried it could be linked to the investigation surrounding the disappearance of Guthrie, 84, who is the mother of NBC’s Today show host Savannah Guthrie, they promptly reported it to the authorities.

Investigators have since located several gloves in the Tucson area that may belong to the armed individual seen outside Guthrie’s home on January 31, the day of her disappearance.

“It seemed likely it was related to what they were looking for,” the wife mentioned.

They refrained from touching the gloves to avoid contaminating any evidence but took photos instead.

Notably, there appeared to be blood splatters on the rock where the second glove had been found.

“There seemed to be blood coming from the glove onto the rock underneath it. It looked like dried blood. We didn’t want to disturb anything, so we called the sheriff’s office without delay,” the husband explained.

Authorities responded to their report, questioning the couple before letting them go.

Timeline of Savannah Guthrie’s mother’s disappearance:

Officials were present at the scene until 2 a.m., the report indicates.

As searches for Guthrie entered the 20th day, the Pima County Sheriff’s Office couldn’t confirm whether the bloody glove was among those collected for DNA testing.

“We can’t confirm that at this moment. Detectives have recovered multiple gloves from the scene, and their evaluation is part of the ongoing investigation,” the department stated.

DNA from other gloves did not match any results in the FBI’s database, nor was any DNA evidence found at Guthrie’s home.

Authorities confirmed that the DNA found on the gloves differed from what was collected from Nancy’s residence.

A newspaper reported that FBI agents recovered at least one glove along the roadside, approximately 1.5 miles from Guthrie’s house.

The black gloves seem to match those worn by the unidentified masked suspect seen near her home.

As of now, no suspects have been identified in the ongoing case surrounding Guthrie’s disappearance.
