As former OnlyFans model Courtney Creney prepares for her trial, her defense team is currently examining the knife believed to have been used in the fatal stabbing of her boyfriend, Christian Obumuseli.
During a pretrial hearing on Monday, Cleney’s lawyer confirmed that they have had the chance to review the knife tied to the incident. There are over eight depositions scheduled shortly as the prosecution readies responses to motions filed earlier.
Creney, 30, who has approximately 2 million Instagram followers, has been in custody since August 2022. She faces second-degree murder charges in Miami for allegedly stabbing 27-year-old Obumuseli in the chest.
The coroner noted that the stab wound was about three inches deep. Initially, the circumstances surrounding the death were considered self-defense; however, investigations continued due to concerns voiced by Obumuseli’s family.
According to a heavily redacted police report, officers responded to an assault call at the couple’s Miami residence, where they discovered Obumuseli, who had a puncture wound in his torso.
The county coroner stated in an autopsy report that he died after being stabbed, puncturing a significant artery.
The prosecution may highlight past conflicts in the couple’s relationship, while the defense intends to portray Creney as feeling threatened by Obumuseli during the stabbing.
Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle previously described Obumuseli’s death as the result of an “intense and combative relationship” that began in November 2020.
A video recorded in February 2022 during a trip to Aspen shows Creney allegedly yelling and hitting Obumuseli, expressing disapproval of his drinking and accusing him of infidelity.
Currently, the trial has been postponed multiple times as both sides continue to address evidentiary issues and finalize depositions. Although Creney’s trial was slated for April 27, it was postponed following a mutual continuance request. The trial is tentatively scheduled to commence in the summer, likely in August, though a specific date hasn’t been confirmed.
Creney has pleaded not guilty and remains in custody without bail as she awaits her trial. Communication with her attorney for further comments is ongoing.
