A dangerous criminal in custody on a murder charge escaped from California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) custody on Monday.
Cesar Hernandez, 34, jumped from a transport van while being transported to the courthouse near 10th Avenue and Kensington Street.
He was sentenced to 25 years in prison with the possibility of parole for first-degree murder, or second-degree assault, CDCR said in a statement.

The Delano Police Department is working with other law enforcement agencies to assist in the search for Hernandez, CDCR said.
The man, who was last seen wearing an orange jumpsuit and white thermals, was described as 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing about 161 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes, according to the Department of Corrections.
