Democrats remained seated during Trump's State of the Union, as they do not embrace American pride.

During his State of the Union address on Tuesday night, President Trump posed a series of questions about the upcoming midterm elections, specifically asking, “Do you support Americans?”

He urged members of Congress to reaffirm the government’s commitment to American citizens over those in the country illegally, stating, “The American government’s first duty is to protect American citizens, not illegal aliens.”

In contrast, Democrats remained seated, refusing to rise, even for the sake of tradition. This seems to reflect their belief that those in the country unlawfully deserve equal status with citizens.

Let’s be honest; the State of the Union is often just political theater. You can anticipate some vocal opposition from across the aisle, along with exuberance from the ruling party.

Still, Democrats’ reluctance to stand suggests a deeper conviction about immigration issues, leading to the perception that they are openly taking an anti-American stance.

It was a long time ago, but I remember voting for President Barack Obama, who spoke in favor of common-sense immigration policies. He stressed that the U.S. should remain a land of opportunity—accessible to those who follow legal pathways.

In 2009, he noted, “Americans value and believe in immigration, but we cannot have a situation where 500,000 people are rushing across our border without a system to control it.” He further emphasized that those wanting to immigrate would face requirements such as paying fines and learning English.

This sentiment resonates with what Trump advocates today, and it’s a message that helped him secure his reelection.

The message remains consistent, but the leadership has shifted. Democrats have increasingly neglected America’s working class, leaving them vulnerable to illegal immigration.

Veteran Democrats like Chuck Schumer seem to be intimidated by the far-left elements of their party, hesitant to change their views on immigration for fear of losing their base.

It’s this indecision that pushed me away from the Democratic Party towards supporting Trump pragmatically in the upcoming 2024 elections.

Hostile Policies

Currently, the Democratic Party endorses ideas that many view as detrimental to the working class. Many voters feel that Democrats focus more on taxation, appealing to elite coastal interests, and fringe cultural topics than on the foundational issues facing average Americans.

Nowhere is this more apparent than in discussions about illegal immigration.

After four years of President Biden, it’s clear that, if allowed, Democrats might fully open the borders, catering to anyone and potentially providing them undeserved comforts.

Illegal immigration does not benefit hardworking Americans and instead seems to serve businesses seeking to cut labor costs. The systems that manage legal immigration help keep crime in check, but Democrats appear more concerned with maintaining corporate donor satisfaction than prioritizing citizen safety.

Furthermore, there exists a far-left philosophy that indicates a desire for the abolition of national borders, favoring globalization over patriotism.

This shift is evidenced in public sentiment. Back in 2001, 87% of Democrats expressed pride in being American; today, that figure has plummeted to just 36%. Meanwhile, Republican pride has seen a slight increase.

How can we expect a party that seems to reject our distinctive identity and undermine American values to guide us toward a hopeful future?

As a parent, I worry about my son’s future; he is just 20 years old. Anti-American sentiments within these political factions may soon lead him to compete for job opportunities against exploited undocumented immigrants.

While liberal media suggests that the midterm elections will revolve around economic assessments or Trump’s character, the president framed it differently—calling it a referendum on national pride.

So, do you support the American people or not?

The Democrats chose to stay seated.
