The Best is Yet to Come
That’s the message MLB analyst Buster Olney shared with players across the league as the Dodgers strive for their third World Series title in a row.
On the show “First Take,” Olney expressed his confidence in the Dodgers, predicting they would come out on top in 2026.
“I would definitely pick the Dodgers. They’re tracking for 101 wins, and despite some setbacks—like Blake Snell not pitching and Tyler Glasnow on the injured list—here they are again,” Olney mentioned.
“They are the team to beat. I think the Dodgers’ best performance is still ahead. If we can navigate through these injuries and get Edwin Diaz and others back, we will have a strong team come October.”
Olney has a point; a lot could potentially derail the Dodgers’ hopes in 2026.
Injuries have been a recurring theme for the team over recent seasons, but they’ve managed to push through without significant players. The early struggles of Japanese star Aki Sasaki may have hampered the starting rotation’s effectiveness, and his 5.33 ERA prevented the Dodgers from expanding their lead in the National League West.
Heading into the latter part of the season, the Dodgers hold the best record in the National League at 61-36 and are set to welcome some key reinforcements back soon.
Moreover, the Dodgers made history by winning back-to-back championships for the first time in 25 years, and they’re eager to extend this dynasty by achieving a three-peat. With the trade deadline approaching, there’s a chance the front office could enhance the roster further, potentially adding Tigers pitcher Tarik Skubal.
No one can say for sure if a trade will materialize, but just knowing that they might realistically bring in Skubal is a daunting thought for other teams in the league.
