Mourners have gathered outside Dolly Parton’s home in Tennessee, laying down balloons and flowers just hours after news broke of her passing at 80, following a short battle with cancer.
This makeshift memorial was thoughtfully put together at the entrance to her Brentwood estate, featuring vibrant bouquets, hand-written messages, and butterfly-shaped balloons, reflecting her 1974 song “Love Is Like a Butterfly.”
The messages conveyed sentiments such as “We love Dolly,” “We will always love you,” and “Y’all means u all,” with “all” in colors representing the pride flag, honoring her as an LGBTQ icon.
A classic black-and-white photograph of the cherished singer was also displayed on an easel, surrounded by green hydrangeas.
Parton had mentioned in interviews over the past year that she was facing some health challenges, which had led her to cancel multiple performances and appearances.
Following her death, billboards in Nashville have been seen displaying the message “Forever Shine Dolly.”
Her health struggles seemed to worsen after the passing of her husband, Carl Dean, in March 2025, with whom she shared nearly 60 years of marriage.
