Fat Joe Faces $20 Million Lawsuit

Rapper Fat Joe is contending with a $20 million lawsuit that includes allegations of sexual abuse involving a minor, among other serious charges.

This lawsuit was filed on Thursday by his former hype man, Ta Dixon, in the Southern District of New York. Dixon claims that Fat Joe, whose real name is Joseph Antonio Cartagena, has waged a “continuous campaign of exploitation” against him.

A detailed 157-page document, which was reviewed, outlines allegations that the rapper “engaged in forced labor exploitation, financial fraud, sexual manipulation, violent threats, and psychological coercion.”

Dixon maintains that these actions were aimed solely at enriching Fat Joe and his associates while systematically silencing and marginalizing Dixon’s significant creative contributions, which, he claims, underpinned Cartagena’s professional success.

Alongside this, filmmaker Tyler Perry is being sued for $260 million by an actor alleging sexual harassment and assault.

In response to the lawsuit, Fat Joe’s lawyer described Dixon’s claims as, well, a clear act of retaliation. The lawyer suggested it’s an attempt to divert attention from an earlier suit that purportedly revealed a coordinated plan to pressure Fat Joe with falsified accusations.

“Law enforcement understands the disturbing demands that underpin this scheme,” the lawyer stated, further asserting that the allegations against Cartagena are entirely fabricated and intended to damage his reputation while coercing a settlement through media pressure. He added that Fat Joe remains unthreatened by these allegations.

On the other hand, Dixon’s attorney reacted to the situation by bringing up past incidents, implying that Fat Joe has not learned from previous legal troubles.

The lawsuit goes on to assert that Fat Joe’s actions transcended mere financial fraud and included forcing Dixon into humiliating situations.

Details of the Allegations

Dixon claims that during his time with the rapper, he bore witness to multiple inappropriate acts. He alleges that, in exchange for financial assistance, clothing, and paying cell phone bills, the rapper would engage in sexual acts involving a minor, specifically mentioning one minor identified as “DOE 1,” who he says was just 16 years old.

Dixon alleged that Fat Joe also had sexual encounters with another minor shortly after she turned 15 and even facilitated cosmetic procedures for her. Furthermore, he claims that the underage girl expressed discomfort over these inappropriate dynamics.

Beyond the allegations concerning sexual misconduct, Dixon, who had roles as a lyricist and background vocalist, accuses Fat Joe of systematically denying him fair compensation for his contributions.

The lawsuit pinpoints two of Fat Joe’s partners, Peter “Pistol Pete” Torres and Richard “Rich Player” Jospitore, as being complicit in threatening Dixon and enforcing control through fear of violence.

Interestingly, Fat Joe had previously taken legal action against Dixon earlier this year after Dixon accused him online of transporting a minor across state lines for sexual purposes.
