FBI captures American heir charged with funding anti-police, pro-Hamas communist uprising

Arrest of Fergie Chambers in Ibiza

The Justice Department and FBI are pursuing new individuals, labeled as “communist capitalists,” involved in financial crimes. One significant target is James “Fergie” Cox Chambers Jr., known as the controversial heir to the Cox Cable legacy.

Chambers was detained by Spanish authorities on Ibiza on Friday, following an international warrant. He’s reportedly charged with money laundering and allegedly supporting Hamas, having funded numerous anti-Israel protests over the years. A transnational network he’s linked to is attempting to frame him as a casualty of what they call the “fascism” of the Trump administration, but many critics feel his arrest is well overdue.

A representative from the Balearic Islands police confirmed on Friday that an American had been arrested on an extractable charges stemming from an international warrant, although they did not confirm his identity. Sources indicate that it was indeed Chambers.

The police spokesperson mentioned that he remains in custody at Ibiza’s central prison while awaiting a judicial decision to be made via video conference. Supporters have planned a “Free Fergie Chambers” protest outside the prison, scheduled for Tuesday evening, criticizing what they describe as “Trump’s fascism targeting advocates for the Palestinian cause.”

The FBI has opted not to comment on the matter, and attempts to reach Chambers or his representatives have been unsuccessful. He has reportedly merged socialist, communist convictions with Islamist perspectives, aspiring for the dismantling of Western society and the rise of political Islam alongside communism.

Supporters within leftist media circles have shared news of his arrest, insisting that the Trump administration’s actions are a strategic targeting of Chambers. By and large, this arrest is part of a broader initiative by the government to tackle financial supporters of political violence, with investigations focusing on possible tax and financial offenses.

According to FBI Deputy Director Chris Reier, their Joint Mission Center is actively identifying key figures associated with funding violent protests, building cases for prosecution.

Chambers shares similarities with Neville Roy Singham, a tech entrepreneur accused of backing far-left nonprofits in Shanghai. The Justice Department has even initiated an inquiry into Singham for alleged financial misdeeds, including money laundering.

Recently, Chambers became one of the main financial supporters of Action for Palestine—later rebranded as Unity of Fields—following the Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023. He described those attacks as a “moment of hope,” stating to a publication that “the destruction of America” was essential for human progression, remarking, “I chant death to America every day.”

Reports have indicated that Chambers has played a behind-the-scenes role in numerous protests against initiatives like the controversial “Cop City” training facility in Atlanta, among other actions throughout the UK and the US.

Chambers, born in Brooklyn in 1985, comes from a wealthy lineage connected to the Cox Enterprises media empire, estimated to be worth around $27 billion. He notably distanced himself from his family’s company, receiving a substantial payout after disagreements over the firm’s stance on the Atlanta Public Safety Training Center, known for its contentious nature.

After his parents’ divorce, Chambers grew up largely in Brooklyn and briefly attended Bard College before delving into activism, especially in response to protests against police brutality in places like Ferguson and Standing Rock. He founded the Berkshire Communists group in Massachusetts, where he cultivated a commune and engaged in leftist activism.

As of February 2024, Chambers has been seen in Tunisia, where he adopted a distinct Muslim appearance, blending symbols of his ideological beliefs with his personal life, which includes owning dogs—an uncommon practice in certain interpretations of Islam. Despite the unusual juxtaposition of his lifestyle, it seems his commitments remain unyielded to public scrutiny.

By May 2026, with his social media suggesting travels in Ireland, this self-identified communist now finds himself behind bars after a season of high-profile holidaying in Ibiza.
