Florida man threatens four with a gun in a Mexican restaurant over a bill disagreement, including a 16-year-old worker's son; technology helps with the arrest.

In Ormond Beach, Florida, a group of four was dining at a Mexican grill on West Granada Boulevard when things took a disturbing turn on May 6th. Tensions escalated rapidly, and it seems at one point, an employee attempted to alleviate the situation by suggesting they could leave without settling the bill.

However, this didn’t diffuse the atmosphere. During the chaos, a woman associated with the group began banging on plexiglass intended to shield the cashiers, as reported. She managed to breach this barrier and advance toward the four employees, one of whom happened to be the son of a staff member.

In a tense moment, the woman shouted at an employee, prompting the 16-year-old to step in and defend his father. At that juncture, surveillance footage captured a man retrieving a silver handgun from his bag and directing it at the employees, including the young boy.

Despite the escalating threat, the woman managed to shove the man out of the restaurant. However, they fled the scene. The following month, authorities had enough evidence to identify the suspect, Anthony Rodriguez, a 25-year-old from Daytona Beach, using facial recognition technology and a photo lineup, as reported.

On June 3rd, police appealed for public assistance via a Facebook post to locate Rodriguez. They concluded that he had indeed brandished a firearm during the confrontation with restaurant staff.

Eventually, on June 5th, Rodriguez turned himself in. Upon his arrest, he faced multiple charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, with bail set at $30,000 for four counts.

Additional Incident

Last weekend, another Florida restaurant witnessed a frightening situation. In Orlando, a 22-year-old man named Daniel Robinson allegedly choked a police officer after refusing to pay a bill of $50.50 at a pizza joint. Following his actions, a pursuit and arrest ensued, resulting in several charges against him, including attempted murder of a law enforcement officer.
