Republican Research Committee’s Last-Minute Funding Proposal

The Republican Study Committee is positioning itself similarly to House Democrats, proposing a last-minute funding strategy infused with policies targeting what they describe as the “radical left.”

House Republicans are expected to submit a continuing resolution that will extend funding until November 21, following the impending September 30 funding deadline. The GOP’s proposals appear to include only minor exceptions, such as a boost in security funding in response to Charlie Kirk’s shocking assassination.

“The Democrats are recklessly threatening a government shutdown unless they get their way,” one Republican leader stated.

Meanwhile, Democrats have responded by developing their own funding bill. August Pfluger (R-Texas), Chairman of the RSC, dismissed the Democratic proposal as mere “old leftovers” from the Biden administration.

“What the Democrats are offering is just reheated leftovers from Biden’s presidency—nobody wants it now, and heating it up again won’t make it any more appealing,” Pfluger remarked.

According to a note obtained by Blaze News, the RSC contrasts its lean funding plan with what it describes as the Democrats’ inflated spending proposal, which it claims funds abortion and illegal immigration.

Democrats have suggested spending plans that could increase funding by nearly $1.5 trillion, continuing Biden-era subsidies that amount to $350 billion. Their proposal also appears focused on directing millions toward illegal immigration and liberal media outlets, reversing nearly $5 billion in previously planned cuts.

“House Republicans are advocating for a responsible approach to keeping the government funded at current levels, while Democrats are pushing for $1.5 trillion in spending, access to Medicaid for illegal immigrants, and $300 billion aimed at extending Biden’s tax credits,” remarked another Republican leader.

In a final note, Pfluger emphasized, “Americans expect their leaders, particularly President Trump and Congressional Republicans, to eliminate fraud and waste, which means resisting the left that voters have firmly rejected.”
