GHF Faces Threats from Hamas
The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) is confronting serious threats as Hamas militants are reportedly targeting their workers, which include both local aid staff and U.S. security personnel. GHF claims that Hamas has been placing bounties on the heads of these workers, potentially offering monetary incentives for anyone who harms them.
“We’ve received credible information that Hamas is now openly attacking the GHF and those affiliated with us,” the foundation stated. This revelation indicates that both American and Palestinian personnel aiding the organization are at risk. They are simply trying to provide essential relief to the people living in Gaza amidst conflict.
Hamas has also been seen deploying armed agents near vital aid distribution areas, seemingly attempting to disrupt what has become Gaza’s only working aid delivery network. Earlier this month, a tragic assault by Hamas resulted in the deaths of twelve GHF personnel, with reports of other workers being tortured as well.
Israeli U.S. Ambassador Mike Huckabee criticized the United Nations for its silence regarding these violent actions by Hamas. He pointed out that despite the challenges, there are still many residents relying on aid: “I reminded the people in Gaza to secure food but, not at the cost of stealing from Hamas,” Huckabee remarked. It’s a tough situation, but he noted that over 800,000 individuals have been recipients of aid since the conflict escalated, underscoring the significant role of aid organizations like GHF.
In reaction to Huckabee’s comments, Rev. Johnny Moore, the GHF’s executive chairman, highlighted that new reliable information from the organization sheds light on Hamas’ recent threats. He cautioned that Hamas would be ill-advised to test the resolve of U.S. officials. The GHF insists that the global community must speak out against Hamas’ treatment of not just their local staff, but American veterans involved as well.
“Through these escalating threats, Hamas is showing a preference for chaos and hunger over peace and relief,” GHF expressed. They called upon international leaders and aid organizations to support the residents of Gaza, many of whom bravely appear to receive aid daily despite ongoing threats.
The GHF announced that it has distributed nearly 50 million meals to date, a significant achievement. This follows a recent boost in funding, with the U.S. State Department pledging an additional $30 million to support the foundation’s vital work.
GHF urges other nations to assist in their humanitarian efforts, which are crucial for those in urgent need in Gaza.
