High school football season is underway, and the top freshmen in the Class of 2025 are looking to put one final exclamation point on their careers before moving on to the next level.
As for quarterback, there has been some fluctuation among the top quarterbacks in the 2025 class with various ranking sources splitting opinions, which makes the 2025 season a key one for the group of young talent at the position.
Here's how the top five quarterbacks in the 2025 class have performed so far this early this season.
LSU commit Bryce Underwood (MI)
One of the most highly-anticipated quarterback prospects in the country over the past few years, Bryce Underwood is considered the No. 1 player in the Class of 2025 by several top recruiting platforms, and his performance has backed up those expectations.
Underwood had another outstanding performance this week, throwing five touchdown passes and rushing for another in Belleville's 65-0 win over Churchill, extending his Michigan High School Athletic Association career touchdown passing record to 128.
The Michigan native, a five-star commit to LSU, opened this season with five touchdowns in two straight games, breaking several Michigan records.
Not only did Underwood break the passing touchdown record, he also increased his total touchdowns to 151, scoring six times last week to record his 153rd.
Underwood accounted for 39 touchdowns as a freshman, 37 as a sophomore and 44 as a junior, and is on pace for his best season to date as he aims to win a state title at Belleville.
Tavian St. Clair of Ohio State University (OH)
Things are starting off pretty well for five-star forward Tavian St. Clair from Ohio State, with arguably his best performance to date last week as he completed 11 of 12 passes for 222 yards and three touchdowns in just the first half of play.
St. Clair is rated a five-star recruit and is considered the No. 2 quarterback in his class by multiple scouting services, and in the team's first four games he has shown great ability to throw the ball while also racking up plenty of yards on the ground.
Though it was called for a holding foul, it was still a great display of Tavian St. Clair's athleticism.

He had a shaky game in Week 3, completing 10 of 19 passes for 127 yards and two touchdowns and rushing for 37 yards on three attempts, but rain limited his opportunities through the air.
The year has started well for St. Clair, who totaled eight touchdowns and over 600 yards passing in the first two games and rushed for over 75 yards in the season opener.
He hopes to build on this strong summer and further develop the talented talent Ohio State has acquired at the quarterback position when he arrives on campus next year.
USC commit Julian Lewis (GA)
Five-star USC commit Julian Lewis, who is considered the No. 2 quarterback in the Class of 2025 by ESPN, is off to a strong start to his senior season as Carrollton High School started the season 5-0.
In last week's 45-16 win over Gainesville, Lewis was efficient, completing 15 of 19 passes for 184 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.
Prior to that, the Georgia quarterback had thrown for at least 270 yards and four touchdowns in three straight games following Carrollton's 24-14 win in a rained-out season opener.
Lewis is off to a strong start this season, completing 78.9% of his passes for 1,218 yards, 20 touchdowns and two interceptions in five games. Lewis also has a rushing touchdown this year.
Lewis will have a good matchup this weekend against Parker High School, with two four-star cornerbacks facing him on the other side of the field in Naeem Offord and Timothy Merritt.
Kieron Russell (TX), who plans to attend the University of Alabama
Five-star quarterback Kieron Russell, one of the fastest-growing players in the 2025 class, plays at No. 2 Duncanville and leads one of the best programs.
The Texas product started the year strong and made a close play this weekend, scoring a game-winning touchdown with under two minutes left in a tough 28-24 win over St. Francis.
Russell completed 20 of 26 passes for 265 yards, three touchdowns and one interception, and also scored a rushing touchdown, showcasing his dual-threat ability.
This comes after Duncanville rushed for 325 yards and five touchdowns in the season opener and is 2-0 this season.
Last year, the Alabama commit emerged as one of the top quarterback prospects in the nation after completing more than 74 percent of his passes for 3,267 yards, 35 touchdowns and three interceptions in 14 games.
He'll be looking to build on his resume with a strong senior season and further improve his standing in the Class of 2025.
Deuce Knight (MS), who will be attending the University of Notre Dame
Five-star quarterback Deuce Knight, who committed to George County High School for his final season of high school football, is one of the most highly-anticipated players in the Class of 2025 and has multiple teams in the running to acquire the player, who committed to Notre Dame ahead of National Signing Day.
Knight started the season by completing 8 of 10 passes for 163 yards and two touchdowns in a 33-7 victory over East Central in the season opener, and also rushed six times for 72 yards.
In Week 2, Knight had no trouble finding the end zone, completing just 18 passes for 317 yards and five touchdowns, and also rushed for 51 yards in a 51-36 win over Greene County.
Then the five-star Notre Dame-bound player faced disappointing news in Week 3, completing 3 of 7 passes for 36 yards in the first quarter before suffering an injury that led to George County's 30-13 loss to Biloxi in the season opener.
Knight has a high potential given his dual-threat abilities and will be one of the top players to watch both on the field and in recruiting for the remainder of the 2024 class.
