This changes everything, really.
Immigration agents, who have often hidden their presence during arrests, are now rolling out new vehicles clearly marked with the agency’s logo.
The fleet is a striking dark blue adorned with large yellow letters reading “ICE,” along with the phrase “protect your home,” according to a photo obtained.
Reports indicate that these vehicles are primarily set to be used in Washington, D.C., with plans for a gradual rollout across the country.
“There will definitely be marked vehicles in D.C., and they’ll need more as they expand their workforce,” an insider mentioned.
However, agents are deeply concerned about safety amid a significant rise in assaults against them by illegal immigrants and anti-ICE activists. Some believe this change could heighten risks for agents on duty.
“It’s like painting a target on us,” noted one agent.
Another source raised alarm over increasing incidents of vandalism directed at agents, reporting that activists had previously slashed tires and thrown objects at them.
Agents often wear masks to conceal their identities while making arrests, a practice that has come under scrutiny since the previous administration intensified its deportation efforts.
“They make it tough for us to do our jobs,” the insider lamented regarding the actions of anti-ICE activists.
The Department of Homeland Security hasn’t yet commented on these developments.
It’s still uncertain how many vehicles will roll out nationwide or what the cost will be. Questions also linger around whether this new fleet is environmentally friendly.
While these vehicles are designated for arrest operations, they won’t be used in undercover surveillance missions that occur before targeting illegal immigrants, according to the insider.
The introduction of these new SUVs comes at a time when the President has tightened law enforcement controls in the capital.
“We’re ramping up our presence in D.C. following the President’s recent announcement. We’re planning to have more teams in the area. The goal is to enhance safety in the district,” shared an insider.
Recently, immigration agents set up a checkpoint on 14th Street in Northwest D.C., drawing protest crowds.
“What’s the purpose of your presence here? Are you targeting innocent people? What are your motivations?” shouted protesters, some reportedly advising drivers to avoid the checkpoint altogether, according to reports.
