Jon Stewart responds to striking similarity of Trump's Jesus meme: 'Am I alright'

Jon Stewart Reacts to Trump’s Meme of Him as Jesus

WASHINGTON — Comedian Jon Stewart was taken aback on Monday night when he saw a strikingly similar image of a frail man in a meme that President Trump had shared late Sunday, where Trump portrayed himself as Jesus Christ.

“Oh my god,” Stewart exclaimed, momentarily at a loss for words during his “Daily Show” segment. “I’m curious about the condition of the man in the bed…”

Later, Trump removed the AI-generated image depicting a Christ-like figure healing a sick elderly man, which had sparked accusations of blasphemy from some religious conservatives.

In a humorous twist, Stewart measured the man’s size and playfully questioned, “Am I going to be okay?”

“Oh my god—” he continued, becoming increasingly anxious. “I recognize I don’t have the same vibrancy I once had during my MTV days, but I didn’t realize I had reached leper territory.”

Stewart expressed his astonishment, saying, “From what the images show, it was a close call for a while. Luckily, when I needed it, I was with my family. I’m really surprised… I’m thankful that Jesus Trump came through with the healing orb.”

As he picked up a McDonald’s order delivered by Grandma DoorDash at the White House on Monday, the 79-year-old president claimed he shared the image because “I posted it because I’m a doctor, and I thought it had something to do with the Red Cross.”

The meme featured Trump in a white robe and red sash, amidst American flags, a bald eagle, and fighter jets, with horned creatures flying in the background.

Stewart humorously suggested, “I like that there are limits to what AI can create. Just like AI, it can show fireworks and healing powers or make you a Jesus, but it doesn’t weigh you—so you end up with a fat Jesus.”

This post followed Trump’s criticism of America’s first pope, Leo XIV, accusing him of being “soft on crime” and ineffective in foreign policy. Stewart, upon realizing the unsettling similarity between himself and the frail man in the image, remarked on the fallout from Trump’s comments on the Pope, saying, “Many Christians are upset. But don’t fret; it’s only going to escalate.”

The president stood firm on his critique of the Pope, refusing to back down or apologize, asserting, “Pope Leo said the wrong thing. It’s unfeasible to have a nuclear Iran. The pope won’t be pleased with the outcome.”
