Kamala Harris Voices Concerns About Gas Prices While Overseeing Record Highs as Vice President

Harris Critiques Gas Prices Amid Record Highs

Recently, Kamala Harris, who previously ran for president as a Democrat, voiced her frustrations about rising gas prices, despite the records set during her tenure as vice president in the summer of 2022.

This week, in a video from Charlotte, North Carolina, she expressed her concerns about escalating fuel costs.

“Hey, everyone. That’s why I’m here in Charlotte. Since President Trump’s war of choice began, I now pay $15 more each time I fill up my tank,” Harris noted, speaking in front of a gas station.

She continued, “The price of diesel has surged by 80% since the war started, and trust me, that will show up in the prices of everything transported by those big trucks.”

Harris added, “We have a president focused more on his political and personal interests than on what matters for American workers.”

However, it’s worth mentioning that gas prices soared to historic highs during the Biden administration. In June 2022, the average cost of unleaded gasoline reached an unprecedented $5.016 per gallon. Just days later, diesel prices hit $5.816 per gallon, also a record.

As of Thursday, the national average for gasoline stands at approximately $4.093, a noticeable increase from last year’s average of $3.169. Some social media users pointed out that significant price hikes occurred even before any military conflict.

“Was Kamala Harris awake when the Biden/Harris administration curtailed US oil production and turned to buying oil from Venezuela, leading to higher gas prices?” questioned one commenter.

Another remarked, “I didn’t mind when inflation hit about 9% during your time in office.”

One individual lamented, “Are you kidding me? I felt the gas prices back then too. Your narrative isn’t convincing anymore.”

It’s also important to note that the Biden administration has systematically phased out oil pipelines, which may have contributed to rising oil dependence.

In recent discussions, President Trump has expressed concerns about rising gas prices linked to U.S. involvement in Iran, suggesting that costs could drop if the U.S. withdraws from the region.

During a press conference late March, a reporter asked Trump about rising gas prices, which had just reached $4 per gallon. He claimed that a resolution in Iran would enhance safety for Americans.

Harris’ remarks seem to accompany hints that she might consider another presidential run in 2028. “I might do it, I may do it. I’m thinking about it,” she mentioned at the National Action Network convention, adding, “I’ll keep you posted.”
