Closing Remarks at the 2026 Republican Midterm Convention
Vice President JD Vance celebrated the notion of the American family and our “birthright” during the closing night of the 2026 Republican Midterm Convention in Dallas, attended by President Donald Trump.
In his address, Vance emphasized the significance of the American family, praising the pro-family initiatives of the Trump administration while criticizing Democratic stances on healthcare. “I want to live in a country where doctors are accountable to parents and the Hippocratic oath, not to a cadre of far-left bureaucrats,” he stated.
He also reflected on America’s past and the essence of the American way of life, calling it our “shared birthright.” Furthermore, he underscored the achievements of the Trump administration regarding border security and deportations, asserting their essential role in maintaining that way of life.
“This country was handed down to us,” Vance remarked. “We received this birthright, and we intend to defend it by choosing Republicans this November.”
Vance expressed that Democrats did not honor this birthright, presenting a direct message to those he termed “radicals” who endanger it and the traditional family: “Stay the hell away from our kids!”
Trump also delivered remarks, showcasing his administration’s accomplishments: “Less than two years ago, the American people gave us a mandate to save America, and in 19 months, I have followed through on every promise.”
He humorously urged the crowd to act as if he is still running for re-election during the November voting. “I’m not on the ticket. You’ve got to pretend. Do me the biggest favor you’ve ever done me, vote as if I’m on the ballot,” he joked. “If the Democrats win, they’ll undo everything we’ve built,” he added, imploring supporters to vote on November 3.
Following the speeches, opera singer Christopher Macchio concluded the evening with performances of “America the Beautiful,” “Nessun Dorma,” and “All I Ask of You.”
The audience was lively throughout the night, often erupting into applause and patriotic chants. An attendee from Houston, Holly Ham, shared her enthusiasm for Vance’s speech: “JD is eloquent. His speech was great. … He loves our country and envisions a bright future for our generation and those to come.” She expressed confidence in the convention’s impact on motivating Republican voters, stating, “This election is crucial. We’re getting the vote out. Everyone here is going to vote, vote, vote!”
