Terrence Bradley, a former law firm partner and divorce attorney, testified under oath Tuesday about what he knows about the personal relationship between Georgia prosecutor Fani Willis and special prosecutor Nathan Wade. Bradley took the stand after Judge Scott McAfee ruled that he could not claim attorney-client privilege.

Under oath, Bradley said he could not recall some details or timelines of conversations he had with former client Nathan Wade about his romantic relationship with Fanny Willis.

Defense attorney Ashley Merchant at one point asked Bradley if she thought the relationship began before Willis hired Wade in 2021, although she did mention text messages between her and Bradley. “Absolutely,” Bradley replied in a text exchange.

But in court Tuesday, Bradley said those comments were “speculation.”

Attorney Richard Rice later asked Bradley if he had a habit of telling “lies about his friends.”

“Would you lie about a friend? About an incident of national importance?” Rice asked.

Bradley replied, “I could have done that, but I don’t know.”

During nearly two hours of testimony Tuesday in Fulton County Superior Court, Bradley said he couldn’t remember important details or specific information more than 20 times. He also said he only discussed Wade’s relationship with Willis once.

Mr. Bradley this month declined to answer specific questions, citing attorney-client privilege. Bradley had refused to answer some of the defense’s questions about what he knew about Wade and Willis’ relationship and when he knew it, citing attorney-client privilege. Bradley briefly served as Wade’s attorney during his divorce.

After an on-camera meeting, McAfee determined that Bradley’s testimony was not privileged, leading to Tuesday’s testimony, the last of the evidentiary hearings before both sides make closing arguments on Friday. Probability is high.

Lawyers for President Trump and his co-defendants, who are accusing Willis and Wade of an “illicit” relationship, are trying to piece together evidence that Willis and Wade lied about the beginning of their relationship and should be excluded from the lawsuit. will do.

Earlier this month, Willis’ father, John C. Floyd III, took the stand and confirmed Willis’ testimony that his father taught Willis to always keep large amounts of cash on hand. Ta. She said these funds were used to repay Wade’s lavish travel expenses, so there was no record of the payments.

She also said she did not meet Wade until 2023 and did not know her daughter was in a relationship with him until about seven weeks ago, when allegations of cheating by Willis were first filed in court.

During their romantic relationship, which ended last summer, Wade and Willis vacationed in places including California’s wine country and the Caribbean.

Michael Roman, a Republican political operative and co-defendant in the Trump case, first argued that there was a conflict of interest in the case because Willis benefited financially from hiring his girlfriend. Four co-defendants have also made similar accusations.

At the heart of the defense’s case is whether the financial trail can show that Willis has a conflict of interest in the case with Trump and should therefore be disqualified.

Ms. Willis testified that she reimbursed Mr. Wade for some of her vacation expenses in cash, but both Ms. Willis and Ms. Wade testified that they had no receipts for those transactions.

The defense team, led by Merchant, is also trying to prove that Willis and Wade had a romantic relationship before Wade took a job in the DA’s office.

Willis and Wade both claimed their relationship began in 2022, after Wade was hired. But they contradicted testimony from Robin Yearty, a former “good friend” of Willis and a former employee of the DA’s office.
