LeBron James Discusses Family Balance at Fanatics Fest
Life in the NBA can certainly drain you, making it tough to maintain close connections with friends and family.
At Fanatics Fest, for the second year in a row, LeBron James sat down for an interview with Jazzy’s World TV host and young reporter, Jazzlynn Guerra. She asked him how he navigates balancing his professional responsibilities with family time.
James emphasized the importance of support, stating, “The best thing for me is having the support. My wife, Savannah, does a fantastic job when I’m involved in sports or working. She keeps everything running smoothly at home. She’s the queen of the kingdom. Without her, our family wouldn’t be as tight-knit as it is.”
He added that when he’s off the court, he tries to reconnect with his family. Guerra also inquired about the sacrifices he’s made, to which James acknowledged he hasn’t always been present for friends or family. Yet, he believes that dedicating himself now—despite missing moments of fun—will ultimately pay off down the line.
As the all-time leading scorer in the league, he reflected, “It’s about friendship and doing what you want to do. Sure, there were times when I wanted to hang out with my friends, but I often had to skip out on those outings for training the next morning.”
At 41, LeBron has devoted 23 years to his NBA career, establishing one of the most remarkable legacies in sports. But what’s often underappreciated is his commitment as a father.
Despite his packed schedule, he’s been actively involved in his children’s lives, especially when his sons, Bronny and Bryce, played high school basketball at Sierra Canyon. After Bronny graduated, he went on to USC, and LeBron made a point to attend his games.
In 2024, an exceptional moment came when Bronny became his teammate, marking the first time an active father-son duo shared the court together.
