Delivered by Linda McMahon Promising A vision for American education during Thursday's hearing before the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions.
President Donald Trump was appointed to lead the Department of Education, McMahon highlighted the importance of school choice and parental rights as a relief package for the decline in the American education system.
“It's not a government-run system, it's funding education freedom. Listen to your parents, not politicians. Building a career, not university debt. Not special interests. Make the nation a strength. Invest in teachers, not Washington bureaucrats.
“November proves that Americans are overwhelmingly supportive of the president's vision, and I'm ready to enact it,” McMahon said. “Education is a matter of determining our national success and preparing American workers to win the future.”
“The legacy of leadership and education in our country is something everyone in this room can hug with pride,” McMahon added. “Unfortunately, many Americans today are experiencing a declining system.”
McMahon pointed out that American school children perform quite poorly in fields such as mathematics and reading. The candidates also addressed an increase in on-campus violence and student suicides.
As an antidote to the decline of education, McMahon stipulated that there is less government intervention and emphasized the importance of empowering students, parents and teachers rather than a bloated bureaucracy.
“It's not a government-run system, it's funding for freedom of education,” McMahon said. “Listen to your parents, not politicians. Building a career, not university debt. Empowering the nation, not special benefits. Invest in teachers, not Washington bureaucrats. .”
“Good teachers are tired of the political ideology of the curriculum and the deficits on the desk,” McMahon added. “That's why school choice is a growing movement across the country. It offers teachers and parents an alternative to classrooms micromanaged by Washington, DC.”
