A woman in Florida reportedly engaged in a fierce struggle with an assailant who was attempting to rob her.
This incident unfolded outside a retail store in St. Augustine at approximately 3:30 PM on June 29. In surveillance footage released by the St. John’s County Sheriff’s Office, we see Theodore Michael Tandidore, 31, dragging a screaming woman toward a Toyota Tacoma truck.
The video depicts a woman desperately shouting for help while the suspect tries to force her into the vehicle. However, she manages to fight back, eventually breaking free and escaping.
Upon witnessing the commotion, a bystander intervened, called 911, and confronted the assailant, who attempted to flee in the truck.
Later, Florida fish and wildlife officials spotted the pickup driving erratically on Route A1A, which led to a high-speed pursuit resulting in Tandidore’s capture, according to the sheriff’s office.
Authorities reported that Tandidore had been attempting to drag the woman into the parking lot after taking her belongings.
He now faces charges of luring, robbery, and grand larceny.
The police highlighted that the victims acted appropriately by attracting attention and resisting the attacker.
Experts in self-defense advise potential victims to remain vigilant, be aware of their surroundings, and trust their instincts in unfamiliar situations. They emphasize that attitude, mental readiness, and preparation are crucial for personal safety.
