Man taken into custody at Trump National Doral for making contact with Secret Service agent

Man Arrested at Trump National Doral Golf Club

A man was taken into custody Tuesday after allegedly confronting Secret Service agents and causing a disturbance at Trump National Doral Golf Club in Florida, officials reported.

The incident unfolded around 4:15 p.m. as the suspect approached a security checkpoint that was being monitored by both Secret Service agents and local police, according to a statement from the Secret Service’s Miami field office.

According to authorities, the individual was disorderly and did not follow commands given by the agents.

“During the encounter, the person appeared disoriented and failed to comply with lawful commands,” stated Michael Townsend, who is the acting special agent in charge. “He then made physical contact with Secret Service members and was arrested without further incident.”

Video footage from the scene captured a bystander recording as the man was taken into custody. It includes the arrested individual saying, “I’m about to start doing business.”

At this time, authorities haven’t released the man’s identity.

Doral police charged him with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest without violence, and they managed to contain the situation quickly. There was no impact on the security operations at the facility.

Townsend confirmed, “The president was not at the scene during this incident. This situation did not compromise the established security arrangements for future visits to Trump National Doral Golf Club.” Further inquiries regarding the suspect and the charges should be directed to the Doral Police Department.
