Immigration groups told “Fox & Friends Weekend” co-host Rachel Campos-Duffy that they support President Biden over former President Trump on policies toward illegal immigration.
Campos-Duffy joined “Fox & Friends” to discuss what she learned from immigrants who left their home countries to come to the United States. Since President Biden took office, there have been nearly 7.3 million illegal encounters at the southern border.
Campos-Duffy said immigrants are “asking Joe Biden to help us move forward and help us achieve our dreams here.” .
Campos-Duffy spoke with migrants at an Indian reservation on the Arizona-Mexico border. She described it as a “soft shelter” and the first stop for undocumented immigrants before heading to a processing center.
“Who is best for illegal immigrants? Donald Trump or Joe Biden?” she asked the group of five adult male immigrants.
Everyone answered, “Joe Biden.”
Other immigrants described coming to the United States to escape violence and seek safety for their families, and one father emphasized the “urgent need” to leave after his neighbor was murdered.
Another immigrant told Campos-Duffy that he used to be a police officer and had received threats. He also added that the cartels are “worse than ever” because of corruption.
“Cartels are more powerful than ever. Corruption is at its peak in Mexico right now, and clearly this operation, this human trafficking operation, is fueling that,” Duffy said.
Another immigrant heading to Florida told Duffy that his wife was traumatized after being kidnapped in Mexico for about a week. One immigrant said he paid Duffy $3,000 to come to America, and another said he paid $5,000.
A record number of Americans see large numbers of illegal immigrants entering the United States as a “grave threat” to U.S. interests, according to a new poll released Tuesday.
According to a Gallup poll, 55% of American adults say the “large number of immigrants who enter the United States illegally” poses a “serious threat” to America’s vital interests. This is an 8% increase from 2023 and higher than the previous high of 50% in 2004.
Of those surveyed, 31% said large numbers of illegal immigrants were an “important” threat, while 14% said it was not important.
The country is now in the third year of a historic border crisis. Last fiscal year set a new record for annual encounters at the southern border, with more than 2.4 million migrants encountered at the border. The record number of monthly encounters exceeded 300,000 for the first time in December.
Duffy reported Monday from Tucson, Arizona. There, she and her photographer were forced to leave the shuttered hotel, which is now being used by an NGO to accommodate migrants.
