Non-Citizens Found on New Jersey Voter Rolls

Recent documents obtained via a public records request indicate that non-citizens in Keebru have been listed on voter rolls for several years, with some having participated in elections.

Both the New Jersey Republican Party (NJGOP) and the Republican National Committee (RNC) sought voter rolls from all 21 counties in New Jersey. Their findings revealed multiple incidents of non-citizens pursuing naturalization who requested to be removed from these rolls, largely because they were unaware of their registration status. Interestingly, most of these individuals were registered as Democrats.

It’s important to note that non-citizens are not permitted to vote in either state or federal elections. Those seeking citizenship expressed concerns that being listed would jeopardize their applications.

In a letter from Atlantic County, Elections Supervisor Maureen Bagdon highlighted cases of non-citizens who visited her office to have their names removed. A typical correspondence might say something like, “We are writing to confirm that the individual listed below visited our office today to confirm their registration and voter status.” Many non-citizens stated they had no intention of being registered voters and were unclear about how they had become registered through the Department of Transportation.

While most letters confirm that these non-citizens lack any voting records, not all cases align with that narrative. For instance, one non-citizen who was removed from the rolls in 2015 had voted multiple times in elections from 2000 to 2008. Another individual participated in the 2005 primary and a 2000 local election.

Further records show non-citizens actively seeking their removal through voter registration cancellation forms. The majority of those unsuspectingly registered indicated their non-citizen status in the section labeled “Other.”

In Atlantic County alone, an examination of more than 50 documents revealed ample evidence of non-citizens unaware of their voter status.

Joe Gruters, RNC Chairman, conveyed that they have uncovered hundreds of cases of non-citizen registrants in New Jersey, which he believes is only scratching the surface. He mentioned that Democratic-led states are generally hesitant to share information about how they maintain their voter registration lists, and the group has solicited data from 48 states.

Gruters expressed disbelief over claims made by Democrats, insisting that non-citizens do not vote, saying, “This is really eye-opening because this is only people who self-reported.” He framed the situation as essential for maintaining a trustworthy democratic process.

As part of ongoing efforts to ensure election integrity, the RNC is investing heavily in initiatives ahead of the 2024 elections. Gruters mentioned their current operations in 17 states, emphasizing their commitment to uphold the principles of fair and secure elections.

In a separate legal matter, the Supreme Court is expected to make a ruling soon regarding a case concerning late mail-in voting. This scenario could significantly affect future election protocols. Gruters stated that securing an abrupt deadline for Election Day votes is crucial to prevent potential manipulation.

No responses have been received yet from officials at the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission or from the office of New Jersey Governor Mickey Sherrill regarding this situation.
