The mayor’s hopeful, Andrew Cuomo was rejected by a public matching fund in a bid to city hall.
The Campaign Finance Committee’s decision comes after the Cuomo Campaign sent a panicked email over the weekend asking them to fill out a last-minute form and give them digital signatures to secure matching funds.
The email comes with a subject line that emphasizes “Urgent – Action required” and “This is very important.”
“You will need to fill out the forms included in this additional email. We apologize for the inconvenience if possible, but it is important to get these forms back as soon as possible.”
The Ex-Gov campaign lost at $332,530 in a matching fund at $4,174,643.75.
The city offers 8-1 Matching Fund Donations of up to $2,150 from city residents as part of an effort to open the field to less-rich candidates.
The paperwork confusion is the latest failure of the past few days, including housing plans on a typo and mistakes by two top union leaders in announcing their support.
“Last Friday, the campaign was notified by the Campaign Finance Committee. Due to technical software errors, the contributions collected in NGP, one of the vendor platforms, lack one of the fields required for the Campaign Finance Committee, met the campaign to resolve this technical technical problem while meeting the required threshold to receive the matching fund.
“Since then, we have fully addressed software issues, complied with all requirements and will submit appropriate documents to the board within a one-week grace period. The board will be able to correct any technical issues to receive eligible matching funds on May 12th.”
