Paige Price recently posted a somewhat cryptic message on “perspective” just a couple of hours after her estranged husband, Frankie Muniz, shared a heartfelt post about “hitting rock bottom” on Instagram.
“Life is all about perspective. If you ask the grass, the zebra is the monster and the lion is the protector,” she wrote in her Instagram Story, adding a video of herself creating a wax seal.
The video was accompanied by an acoustic version of the Goo Goo Dolls’ song “Iris,” featuring the lyrics, “And I don’t want the world to see me / ‘Cause I don’t think that they’d understand / When everything’s made to be broken / I just want you to know who I am.”
Meanwhile, Muniz, who is 40, had posted on Instagram shortly before Price shared her story, revealing a photo of himself along with a raw caption detailing his recent challenges.
“The last six weeks of my life have been a nightmare I’m praying to wake up from,” he expressed. “Everything has felt heavy, unclear, and like it’s all falling apart at the same time. I wouldn’t wish this season on anyone.”
The former “Malcolm in the Middle” star mentioned that he felt he’d had “nowhere to hide” from his struggles but also referred to the experience as an “unexpected gift.”
He shared how he’s taken this time for self-reflection, acknowledging that he’s seen areas in his life that need improvement in order to become a better version of himself, not just the polished image he often presents to the world.
Muniz admitted to experiencing “rock bottom,” reflecting on how such moments can sometimes serve as a wake-up call, prompting necessary change for a better life.
“In five years, I believe I’ll look back at this exact low point and feel grateful for it because the high I’ll be standing on then only exists because I went through this,” he said, emphasizing his hopeful outlook.
He remarked that this is just the beginning for him, a chance to engage in the “uncomfortable, unglamorous, and necessary” work needed for growth. “I’m choosing to treat this season as the foundation, not the finish line,” he added.
He finished his post by encouraging others who might be in a similar low place, saying, “If you’re in a low place right now too, you’re not broken. You’re being rebuilt. Let’s keep going!”
Muniz announced in July that he and Price were separating after ten years, sharing the news in an Instagram post that he later deleted following some backlash.
Price defended him in the comments of that deleted post, expressing her sadness that he felt compelled to take it down due to cruelty from people. “Frankie, I am so sorry that you felt the need to delete an old funny video of our family because people are so cruel to you. This world is so messed up,” she wrote.
The couple, who got married in February 2020, share a five-year-old son named Mauz, born in March 2021.
