Gas Station Offers Discounts in Los Angeles

In a bid to help Southern Californians combat rising fuel prices, a new gas station in Los Angeles is attracting attention with significant discounts. The Stars and Stripes gas station, located in Studio City, has launched its opening with a special deal — regular gas priced as low as an eye-catching $4.99 per gallon.

This price is notably lower than the average cost of $6.09 per gallon in Los Angeles County, as reported by AAA.

Owned by a family business based in San Diego, Stars and Stripes operates multiple locations within Southern California. “Our goal isn’t to take advantage of anyone; it’s simply to provide much-needed relief,” said Calvin Kalasho, a member of the family behind the chain.

However, the discounted price didn’t last long. As of Wednesday morning, the cost at this gas station had already risen to $5.29 for regular gas, with mid-grade at $5.70, premium at $6.00, and diesel reaching $8.00.

Californians are currently grappling with gas prices that have increased by 14 cents compared to last week, and they are now paying $1.36 more than a year ago. Diesel prices have soared even higher, recently hitting record levels, with some stations showing prices at the max pump rate of $9.99 per gallon.

Patrick De Haan, who heads petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, noted the impact of these rising diesel prices, suggesting that they could lead to increased costs for goods and potentially contribute to inflation. “This could be especially challenging heading into the holiday season when prices traditionally climb,” he mentioned, expressing concerns over ongoing geopolitical tensions that may further drive prices up.
