Authorities were called to the Florida residence of Geno Smith on Sunday over allegations of battery, as reported by local officials on Monday.
A spokesperson from the Davie Police Department indicated that they arrived at Smith’s home around 4:40 p.m.
No further details about the situation were shared right away, but it was noted that “no one was taken into custody at the scene.”
Police involvement coincided with a video posted by a woman named Kristen on her Instagram, where she accused Smith of making inappropriate advances.
The video shows her recording Smith outside his home while exclaiming, “Geno just punched my ass!” She also claimed he “ran outside and attacked me” and stated in another clip that he “also broke my goddamn computer.”
She captioned the video, “Today is the day! Geno Smith beat my ass. I can’t leave him alone because he hates taking care of special needs kids and would rather watch sex online or play Call of Duty.”
Additionally, she mentioned that he “threw my wallet out and was stealing money from my car in a crazy manner.”
The video featured a moment of Smith seemingly conversing with three police officers outside of her home, which she captioned, “Accusation. Pushed!”
Smith has yet to publicly address these allegations, and attempts to reach the Jets for a comment were unsuccessful.
However, the mother of Smith’s son, Seven, came to his defense with an Instagram story when Kristen’s video gained attention. She wrote, “Jeno has and always has taken great care of our son,” sharing a photo of Smith with their child.
She urged people not to drag her son into what she described as “a web of dysfunction.”
This incident follows Smith’s recent trade from the Raiders to the Jets, marking his return to the team after previously playing there from 2013 to 2016.
