A recently leaked autopsy of the 2024 election, commissioned by the Democratic National Committee (DNC), has been described as, well, “garbage.” The analysis, first reported by CNN, seems to prioritize self-praise over genuine reflection and constructive criticism.

The report suggests that Democrats are more about debating issues while Republicans focus on securing victories. It highlights an intriguing aspect of political messaging — emphasizing a clear, impactful message may resonate more with voters and ultimately determine election outcomes.

It’s amusing, really, when you think about how the Democrats regard themselves as the “Party of Reason.” This idea might remind some of former Vice President Kamala Harris’ baffling remarks back in 2022. She spoke about the “significance of the passage of time” during a library tour, which certainly raised eyebrows.

Amidst the analysis, the author argues that Democrats were overly cautious regarding the prosecution of Donald Trump. They claim a more aggressive stance would have painted Trump’s presidency in a less favorable light, noting that the messaging wasn’t quite effective enough.

Interestingly, Trump’s mug shot became a pivotal image for his campaign, showing up on merchandise soon after his release from jail in August 2023. It’s now displayed outside the Oval Office, which highlights the irony of the situation.

The document also hints at a concerning trend: many Americans, it seems, struggle to make it to the polls. The author remarks on the difficulty of motivating people in a world where staying home on the couch is often easier than engaging with local communities and current events.

Additionally, the report’s analysis regarding male voting patterns appears rather weak. It notes that Democratic North Carolina Governor Josh Stein performed better with male voters than Harris, suggesting a potential disconnect in voter engagement strategies. Yet, there’s no clear guidance on what improvements should be made to reach this demographic.

There’s also a troubling lack of discussion on crucial culture war issues. The report barely touches on topics like “transgender Americans,” although it claims Trump’s advertising strategy targeting the Vice President was notably effective. Yet, it fails to provide proper data to support this assertion, leaving many parts of the report feeling vague and inconsistent.

Some sections come across as incomplete. For instance, in the “WHAT HAPPENED (ELECTORAL REVIEW)” section, the author simply labeled certain parts as “PENDING.”

One particularly amusing part appears in the section titled “It’s The Future, Stupid,” where the author misattributes some of the political strategies, forgetting that Joe Biden was the sitting president during key moments.

DNC Chairman Ken Martin initially resisted releasing the report, facing backlash from both sides of the aisle. Now, after finally sharing it, he expressed regret about the overall quality, stating he was not proud of the content. He insists the report did not meet his standards and lacks verification for many claims.
