Heated Exchange on CNN’s “NewsNight”
On a recent episode of CNN’s “NewsNight,” a contentious debate unfolded between Republican analyst Scott Jennings and anti-Trump influencer Adam Mokler.
Jennings initiated the discussion by asking, “Who are the invaders here?”
Panelist Kat Abu-Ghazaleh replied, “Us. We are the invaders. We started this war because, yes, it all exists.”
Jennings pressed further, questioning whether Mokler believed the history of the United States only began in the last eight weeks, implying that his perspective was limited.
Mokler countered, noting, “Listen, we all know—” but was interrupted by Jennings asserting that the U.S. had been engaged in conflict with certain countries for 47 years.
Mokler then criticized Jennings, saying, “We all know that Scott Jennings is happy to endorse wars against nations starting with IRA, but these wars are failing and will only add trillions to our debt. I was just a child during the last administration that defended endless wars, which ultimately ended in failure.”
Jennings responded, “Is eight weeks infinite for you?”
To which Mokler replied, “Okay. They said it would take six weeks.”
Jennings remarked, “That’s—you have the attention span of a gnat.”
Mokler, trying to gain the upper hand, said, “Wait a minute, dude. The last time we debated about four to six weeks ago, you claimed there were still a few weeks left. The patronizing comments now show you can’t defend the fact that this war isn’t going your way.”
Jennings questioned, “Not going your way?”
Mokler pushed back, demanding Jennings name one political concession gained so far.
Jennings, visibly agitated, snapped, “First of all, get your hands off my face!”
Mokler persisted, “Name one political concession—” but was interrupted by host Abbey Phillip, who attempted to de-escalate the situation, saying, “Wow, wow, wow. Sorry, everyone.”
Jennings maintained his stance, saying he wouldn’t let Mokler invade his personal space.
Phillip called for calm, instructing the guests to engage with each other’s points more respectfully.
Mokler asked, “Can you list the political concessions we have gained?”
Phillip responded, “Not really.”
Panelist Geraldo Rivera shared his own thoughts, suggesting he had memories from previous conflicts that unsettled him.
After some back and forth, Philip urged Jennings to respond and steer the discussion further.
Jennings framed the U.S. mission as straightforward: “To ensure that terrorists and terrorist regimes do not possess nuclear weapons that threaten the U.S., our regional interests, our European allies, and others globally.”
In a final jab, Mokler quipped, “So you can’t answer the question.”
Jennings reiterated, “That’s our goal.”
Mokler concluded with, “Thank you. I would be angry too.”
