NewsNation host Chris Cuomo on Tuesday fired Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s team for using former Trump attorney Michael Cohen, a “political darling of the left,” as a key witness.
On his show “Cuomo,” the NewsNation host spoke with criminal defense attorney Mark Geragos and former New York federal prosecutor Paul Curran about Bragg’s case against former President Donald Trump, who has been charged with 34 felonies. We held a discussion session with Mr. After a heated exchange between Mr. Geragos and Mr. Curran, who argued over evidence in the case, Mr. Cuomo said Mr. Cohen was the only person who mattered to him regarding the trial. “I think there’s a lot of questionable stuff going on everywhere, but I’ll say this, folks,” Cuomo said. “Cohen is the only person that matters to me in this case. I don’t see how a prosecutor would rely on someone with such questionable credibility. The political left has made him a darling. I know I decided to do it, but I think it’s a really, really weird choice. What Mark is suggesting about Cohen is certainly true because he told me that at the time. It turns out that it was.”
“I hope I don’t get taken to court. But I remember Cohen giving me different versions of what happened. The person said to Melania, [Trump] I had no idea this was happening, but then he turned his story around and said she knew everything. To be honest with you, I don’t know how you would indict this guy,” Cuomo said.
Jury consultant Carolyn Koch said last week that she believes jurors in the trial will likely be shocked by Cohen’s lack of “credibility” even after presenting evidence against Trump. He said there was. Cohen pled guilty in August 2018 to five counts of intentional tax evasion, one count of making false statements to a bank, one count of illegal campaign contributions, and one count of excessive campaign contributions.
Cohen is expected to be shown to jurors a recording of a conversation he had with the former president in which he discussed the possibility of purchasing an article about a Playboy model who claimed to have had an affair with Trump.
