81-year-old Democratic President Joe Biden experienced another bizarre moment on the campaign trail in Emmaus, Pennsylvania, on Friday, when his remarks swept the internet with multiple different interpretations.
The Republican National Committee (RNC) initially posted a video in which Biden appears to say to a coffee shop employee, “My name is Joe Biden. I work for the Senate administration.”
However, according to an Associated Press report at the time, Biden said, “My name is Joe Biden. I work for the governor and the senator.”
Biden appeared at Nowhere Coffee along with Pennsylvania Democratic Governor Josh Shapiro and Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pennsylvania).
Shortly after the clip went viral, the RNC removed it. However, the video is still available to watch here.

Some reporters have noted that the RNC delayed posting to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, because the text of the post and the version of the comments reported by the AP were different. .
The RNC has now deleted this post (it had been widely shared beforehand).

But no matter which of Biden's statements is true, this is a strange moment either way, as aides seek to downplay Biden's octogenarian demeanor in the lead-up to the 2024 election. This further highlights his mental state.
As he left the coffee shop, Biden thought about his hometown, 90 minutes away. “By the way, we're almost in heaven. We're almost in Scranton,” he said.
Aides have implored Biden in recent months to make “a series of subtle changes” to show he is “still committed to another term,” people familiar with the conversations said. . Said NBC News on Friday. Changes in tactics reportedly include speaking privately, canceling campaign events without notice, posting more on social media, and wearing fewer ties.
It is unclear whether Mr. Biden's strategy will convince voters of his spiritual vitality. Mr. Biden often mumbles when giving speeches. Once he finishes his remarks, he often appears to wander offstage. The camera captures the image. It spreads quickly on social media.
Biden often finds it difficult to maintain the correct posture. He stumbled, fell, or stumbled in public at least five times in 2023.
Polls show Americans doubt Biden's physical and mental abilities.
- Majority of Democrats are 'concerned' about Biden's ability
- Fifty-five percent said Biden's health and age “significantly” limit his ability to perform his job.
- Registered voters have “significant” concerns about Biden's age and health.
