Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito sold Anheuser-Busch stock during Dylan Mulvaney boycott

Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito is speaking out against Bud Light’s parent company, Anheuser-Busch, amid a social media boycott over the brand’s controversial advertising partnership with transgender social media influencer Dylan Mulvaney. He sold his stock and bought stock in rival Molson Coors.

Mr. Alito sold between $1,000 and $15,000 of AB InBev stock on August 14 of last year, according to financial disclosure documents released by federal attorneys general.

On the same day, he purchased an equal amount of Molson Coors stock, according to a disclosure report.

This trade didn’t seem to come at a good time for Alito.

At the time he sold his Anheuser-Busch InBev stock, it was worth about $56 a share. As of Monday, his stock price was hovering around $66.28 per share.

Molson Coors stock was trading at $64.48 when Mr. Alito bought the company last year. But since then, its value has fallen.

As of Monday, Molson Coors stock was trading at just over $55 per share.

At the time of the deal, social media users were outraged by Bud Light’s partnership with Mulvaney.

Last April, Mulvaney promoted Bud Light to his millions of followers on social media platforms.

She posted a video on her Instagram account showing off a custom-made Bud Light can with her likeness on it.

The cans were sent to Mulvaney by Bud Light’s marketing team to celebrate “365 Days of Girlhood.” A subsequent social media post shows Mulvaney opening a can of Bud Light in honor of the March Madness men’s college basketball tournament.

The social media post sparked a fierce backlash from conservatives who called for a boycott, resulting in a reported $1 billion in lost sales.

Anheuser-Busch InBev said in its recent earnings report that U.S. sales fell 17.3% in the fourth quarter and 9.5% for the full year.

Bud Light, once America’s best-selling beer, has been forced to cede shelf space to upstart companies like Modelo Especial, Coors Light and Miller Lite.

Alito, a 74-year-old Supreme Court justice who was appointed to the bench by then-President George W. Bush in 2005, has been the subject of controversy over his reportedly overt political leanings and activities.

In January 2021, an upside-down American flag, a symbol associated with former President Donald Trump’s false claims of election fraud, was flown outside a home in Alexandria, Virginia, The New York Times reported.

The photo, obtained and published by the newspaper on Thursday, comes days after Republican supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, in an attempt to block the certification of Democrat Joe Biden’s victory in the presidential election. This photo shows the national flag flying on January 17, 2019.

Dozens of pro-Trump rioters similarly carried upside-down flags and chanted slogans such as “Stop the Steal.”

The report raises concerns about Alito’s impartiality as the court considers two major cases related to the Capitol attack, including rioters’ charges and Trump’s immunity from prosecution on charges of election interference. there is a possibility.

The judge said the flag was placed there by his wife during a dispute with neighbors.
