Donald Trump has labeled Washington, D.C., a “crime-free zone” while a federal crackdown on crime unfolds.
He remarked that D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser enjoys popularity due to her collaboration with him, which he claims has contributed to reducing crime.
Trump emphasized the need to not become complacent, stating that “D.C. is a huge victory that must come to an end!” He also urged major cities led by Democrats to adopt similar measures.
“This could happen, and it could unfold rapidly in crime-laden cities like Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, and even Baltimore!”
He referenced Bowser’s working relationship with him and his team while criticizing mayors like J.B. Pritzker and Lori Lightfoot. He indicated that Bowser’s approval rating had risen significantly due to successful crime-stopping efforts, and that the challenges posed to law enforcement had been immense. He also noted that if he hadn’t intervened during certain incidents, Los Angeles could have faced severe setbacks, even impacting the Olympics.
In the initial 13 days of the operation, about 550 arrests were reported.
According to reports, within those first days, authorities noted around 550 arrests, while data from the Metropolitan Police Department showed a 40% decrease in robberies and car break-ins. By August 24, enforcement activities surged with over 700 arrests and 91 illegal firearms taken off the streets.
Trump claims his efforts are making America safer!
