President Trump announced Friday that he would “quickly revoke” former President Joe Biden's access to security clearance and daily intelligence briefings.
The 78-year-old Trump claimed that he set a precedent four years ago when the former president cited Trump's “unsteady behavior” and banned him from receiving access to the same briefing.
“There's no need for Joe Biden to continue to continue access to categorized information,” Trump wrote in the Truth Social Post.
“So we're quickly revoking Joe Biden's security clearance and stopping daily intelligence briefings,” the president continued.
“He sets this precedent in 2021 and will access the Intelligence Report Community (IC) with details of national security, the courtesy of the 45th President of the United States (I!) provided to the former president. I told him to stop it.”
The former president and other former senior officials retain access to conventionally categorized information.
Allowing a former president to continue receiving intelligence briefings has been done historically in the event that a sitting president needs to consult with his predecessor about advice on how to deal with a particular situation. It's here.
Biden, 82, blocked Trump from receiving an Intelligence briefing in February 2021, with the 45th president saying “Because of his unstable actions unrelated to the rebellion” on January 6th He referenced the riots and told them that America's secrets should not be kept secret.
“I don't think he needs to do that intelligence briefing,” Biden added. “What is the value of giving him an intelligence briefing? What impact does he have at all besides the fact that he might slip something and say something? ?”
Trump also references the results of a federal investigation into Biden's retention of classification documents from his time as Vice President and Senator, and the bomb report from former special advisor Robert Herr on the issue was his decision-making process. This indicates that this is a factor.
“The Hur report revealed that Biden suffered from “poor memories” and that even his “Prime” was unreliable with sensitive information,” Trump wrote. “I will always protect our national security. Joe, you are fired. Make America great again!”
After Biden became vice president in 2016, he determined that he “willfully retained and disclosed materials” but the ju-degrees judges said that Biden was “sympathetic and well-meaning.” He decided he didn't accuse the president of concerns that he would be considered an elderly person. A man with a bad memory.”
