The Biden administration has warned that Iran could suffer economic damage if it launches a “significant” attack on Israel, but has appeared to suggest the United States would tolerate smaller attacks on Israel.
The messages were also intended to warn Tehran that “if it continues down that path, it risks serious consequences for Iran’s economy and the stability of its newly elected government,” the official added.
Notably, the warning focuses on “the impact on Iran’s economy” and the implications for the new government, rather than military implications, despite the US sending more fighter and reconnaissance planes to the region.
