Israelis caught a breather early Sunday after Iranian drone and missile attacks nearly crippled the Jewish state’s powerful air defenses, backed by the U.S. military and other allies.
A senior U.S. official told Fox News early Sunday local time that U.S. forces shot down “at least a dozen” Iranian drones en route to Israel, adding that U.S. military involvement continues.
A US military official told Fox News: “US forces in the region continue to shoot down Iranian-launched drones targeting Israel. We are maintaining a posture to protect the country,” he said.
According to a senior Israeli official, Israel’s multi-layered and advanced air defense system intercepted 99% of the missiles launched by Iran. ” [Israeli] “This will be an unprecedented response.”

Officials added that U.S. military assets in the region will shoot down any missiles or drones launched that could threaten the U.S. or its allies.
“The United States will not attack, but we will protect our allies. If there is a situation in the air, we will shoot it down,” a senior US military official said.

Fox News also acknowledged that the US is working closely with Jordan and Egypt, as Jordan played a key role in downing a projectile fired at Israel.
Officials say airspace use is also something to keep an eye on and will monitor.

Earlier on Sunday, Iran said the attack “can be considered over,” but warned that it would respond firmly to any country that allows Israel to use its airspace to attack Iran.
