VIDEO: Jen Psaki’s face drops as Don Lemon reports black voters don’t know Kamala Harris and trust Trump on the economy

MSNBC host Jen Psaki's expression darkened as Don Lemon reported on what was found among voters and their reaction to Kamala Harris' presidential campaign.

The former White House press secretary asked Lemon about his trip to the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Illinois, during which he interviewed many Americans about who they supported for president.

“A lot of people, even people of color and women [are] He says he supports Donald Trump.

“What have been some of the things or trends that have surprised you in those conversations?” she asked.

“Well, I don't know if it was a surprise, but it was certainly an eye-opener to hear so many people, people of color and even women, say they support Donald Trump. Polls are tight and I'm not so sure the polls are accurate in terms of who supports who,” Lemon responded.

“Jen, there were a lot of black men who said they were supporting Donald Trump simply because he gave them a stimulus check. Trump gave them $1,200 when he was president. They somehow didn't remember that the current president also gave them a stimulus check, except that his name wasn't on the check,” he continued.

Lemon said he told the Black man “multiple times” that the checks came from a Democratic Congress and that Trump delayed issuing them so he could get his name on them.

“They got the check and they saw Trump's name on it, so they automatically assumed it was sent directly from Donald Trump. I think it's good marketing,” Lemon said, likening Trump's name on the check to him having his name on a building.

“A lot of people didn't know who she was.”

“What about Harris? Did he say anything about her?” Psaki asked hopefully.

“Yeah, look, it depends on where you are. We went to some battleground states – Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana – and of course we were on our way to Chicago, but it depends on where you are,” he replied.

“A lot of people, especially in Pittsburgh, the Jersey Shore, Atlantic City, Ohio, didn't know who she was. She wasn't well known, so I think she needs to reintroduce herself to the public.”

“but [Trump]I think they thought he was good for the economy, and he told them he was bringing money into the community and being an ally to black people.”

Lemon went on to say that while he wasn't surprised by what he heard, he believes the information black voters were given to him was “all false” and that “they didn't understand the right reasons why they should vote.”

Lemon also claimed to be the first person to openly call Trump a racist and said he still believes Trump is a racist.

“Am I surprised that so many African-Americans support him? I'm a little surprised. But I also think that people tend to romanticize the past, and even though by most measures the economy is strong and thriving, people are voting on price, they're voting with their wallets.”
