White House backs Israel blocking aid to Gaza

The White House supports its ally Israel in its decision to block aid to Gaza amid Hamas' refusal to agree to a second ceasefire agreement.

“Israel has negotiated in good faith since the start of this administration guaranteed the release of hostages captured by Hamas terrorists,” National Security Council spokesman Brian Hughes said in a statement. “We support their decision on the next step as Hamas showed no longer interest in the negotiated ceasefire.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office has announced that it will halt humanitarian aid to Gaza until Hamas agrees to the next ceasefire phase.

The first round of the ceasefire contract began on October 7, 2023 and marked a major turning point in the conflict that led to the destruction of much of Gaza. The deal was secured just before former President Biden resigned and President Trump was sworn in.

Tensions will be high in the region once the first round deadline ends this weekend, but the deal is at a fragile point.

Despite Hamas' refusal to accuse Israel of trying to derail progress, the move from Israel to aid to halt is important.

The group was called the Israeli decision to support “cheap terror, war crimes, blatant attacks.”
