Jeffries Discusses Free Market Attacks on CNBC
During an episode of CNBC’s “Squawk Box” aired on Thursday, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) addressed inquiries regarding remarks made by New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani (D) about the free market. It’s notable that Mamdani isn’t even the current mayor.
When Jeffries commented on former President Trump’s perceived attacks on the free market economy, Andrew Ross Sorkin followed up with a question.
“I’m trying to grasp why we focus so much on Democratic candidates who aren’t really candidates. It’s also not right to support a president who often targets the free market, pressuring companies, colleges, and law firms,” Jeffries stated.
Sorkin replied, “I see your point and don’t condone those attacks either. Still, there’s a debate about whether they are similar or different. The House of Representatives, possibly due to support for this president, raises an interesting question.”
“Discussing Joe Biden is intriguing. Unlike Donald Trump’s complete control over the presidency and Congress, Elizabeth Warren is no longer a contender. One pressing issue remains the rising cost of living, which hasn’t been effectively addressed,” Jeffries added.
In the early part of the interview, Jeffries suggested that building more affordable housing could be a viable solution, requiring collaboration with the private sector.
